Hi there! My name is Jem, a food photographer, food stylist, and recipe developer based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, but available worldwide.
I specialize in helping health, environmental, and social-centric food & beverage brands boost sales through scroll-stopping photos. I also work with homemade food and drinks, creating images that highlight the YUM factor, styled in a way that makes readers instantly crave the recipes.
I was born and raised in Indonesia, attended high school in Singapore under a full scholarship, and moved to the Netherlands, initially for university. I worked as a data scientist before deciding that I only have one life and that it's time to do something that I'm actually obsessed with: food and drink photography.
I have an MSc in data science. But my main motivation for getting that degree was really because I would gift myself my first-ever camera as a graduation gift. Not owning a DSLR/mirrorless camera didn't stop me though. Simply by using my smartphone, I managed to win a photography competition held by the Dutch embassy!
Once I bought my first camera, I simply couldn't stop. I even spent my vacation days off from work to practice my photography! As a result, I have been featured multiple times on MSN, Huffpost, and Real Simple to name a few.
